Ok, My maw-maw passed away late Saturday night. She was 81 years old and on June 7th she would have been married to my paw-paw for 60 years. She was truly an amazing women. The funeral was today and I know that she is now looking down on our family. She had the BEST Mother's Day ever- she was with Jesus. I have been thinking a lot here the last few days about the good times that we had with them when we were little kids....
- Always had gum or peppermints in her purse
- loved to cook and bake and loved to teach the grandkids how to cook and bake
- made the best sausage balls, fried pies, pecan pies, ranch dip salmon patties, biscuits and gravy.
- I remember going out to the garden with her and getting fresh cucumbers.
- The fun times at singing school for 2 weeks each summer.
- learning from her how to knit, play Chinese checkers
- playing memory card games with her.
Of course, this is just a few to say the least. I have SO MANY MORE GREAT MEMORIES!
I just pray that I will be half the women she was. I am so thankful that I was able to spend all the time with her that I did and that I was so close to her. It is such a blessing to be able to grow up with grandparents and be close to them. I love my grandparents more than anything and I will miss her greatly. But I know that she is having the time of her live with Jesus now and she will be looking down on all of us and making sure that we are safe. During the funeral they announce that she was a member of her church since 1948- WOW that is a long time, she was a teacher and director there for years. What a great way to be remembered. I hope that I make that kind of impression just on one person life in my life time.
Never take for granted things that you do everyday- you never know when it will be gone.
Just pray for my family that we will be ok during this time. Pray for my paw-paw that he will be ok. After so many years you become one and June would be 60 years, so I am sure he is going to have some hard times- so just lift him up in your prayers.
Thank you in advance.
