Ok, this morning I had a conversation (face to face) with Trenton's teacher about him taking AR tests on his library books. Here is the conversation after we say good morning and had some small talk.....
Me: Since Trenton has not done well on the last two AR test that he has taken, from now on Trenton is not allowed to take and AR test on a book the next day. He can check a book out on Monday, read it everyday, including the weekend and test on it the next Monday. So he will have to read a book for 1 (ONE) week before taking the AR test.
Teacher: Ok, that is fine with me. You know in the past what I have done is have the student write the name of the book in their log and then when the parent is ready for the student to take the AR test, the parent will initial beside the name of the book.
Me: that sounds great, we will do that. So he will wait and test on the book his has now on Monday. Then he can get a new book and read it all week and over the weekend and test on Monday.
teacher: that sounds great....
some more small talk and then good bye....remember this was face to face in the classroom with Trenton standing there to hear the entire conversation.
So I worked late today because I was late getting to work (due to going to the school) and when I got home Jeff had helped Trenton with homework and looked over the daily stuff that I normally do. Jeff said didn't you and the teacher agree that Trenton would not take a test until Monday? ( I called him and told him everything that was said. ) I said yes, why? He said Trenton took a test today. I said WHAT????? When I questioned Trenton he said that the teacher MADE him take an AR test today.
Well, this just makes me so furious.....I am going to call her first thing in the morning and let her have it. I guess she didn't understand HER idea.......
Ugh, I am so mad at this lady.....
sorry to vent, but I had to get out my frustration....

PROGRESS REPORT TIME
Trenton got his first progress report and it was good. His lowest grade was an 88B. We were very proud of this. He is working hard on his school work. I have also talked to the counselor at the middle school and she has given me some good ideas to try on him. We are going to try them this weekend so hopefully this will work.
Hollie's 4k teacher told me this week that she is the only one in her class of 10 that can recognize all her letters and numbers 0-10 and she knows her vowels as well. She also told me that she is ready to start reading 3 letter words. So we are going to start working on that with her.
I will keep you updated.
love to you all.

Trenton did well in his first two games Sunday. They lost both of them 8-6, but they played very hard and very well. Hollie's games, what can I say, it was embarssing. Her coach does not know how to coach. During the practices he leaves 9 kids on the field and brings one in to bat. Well, guess what, you can NOT do that. You have to break them up in to small groups (3-5 per group) and have them do something as a group. Leaving 9 kids on the field to WATCH one kid try to hit the ball is stupid. The 9 kids get so bored QUICKLY and end up throwing dirt and not learning anything. So all of the parents are complaing to the park board members. The board members are supposed to be having a meeting to dicsuss what to do. I say the coach needs to step down and let someone else be the head coach. He doesnt want any of the parents helping. It is crazy. Bowling is going good for the kids. They are enjoying that still. Oh yea, yesterrday while walking up the front sidewalk from the bday party next door, we had a rabbit run out of the bushes by the front porch.I know, the grass needs cut, something is wrong with Jeff's riding lawn mower, but isnt the bunny cute....
Trenton got hit in the but by the ball.....

First Practice/First Bowling
So, both the kids did well on their first bowling last week. This week at bowling Trenton was 2 pins shy of having 3 games at 105. SO today his scores were 105,105, and 103. Hollie did good, she bowled a 59 and a 55.
They also had their first practice for baseball....Trenton did awesome, and Hollie did pretty good, she had a little bit of trouble with hitting. It is coach pitch...she is used to hitting off of a tee....so we will see how well this goes....here are some pictures--- http://picasaweb.google.com/grahambunch/Pictures#
Sunday, Hollie has a game and Trenton has 2 games, I will post some pictures of the games in a few days....until then--

It has been a while- Sorry
Ok, so it has been a while since I last blogged- Sorry, it has been busy. Let me catch you up...
So far both kids are doing well in school.
Trenton again is going through this I hate school, why do I have to go. And again I tell him to get used to it because he will be in school until he is 18. He hates homework still, but is understanding that it has to be done. Last year during Spring ball, I told Trenton that if his homework was not done (correctly) at daycare for us to check at home that he would not be making his practices or his games. That really seemed to work. So this year, I have already started using that line. Since Fall ball started this past weekend and bowling started last week, I have told him that homework has to be done at daycare (again- correctly) or there will not be any sports for that day. Homework for him consists of 20 spelling words, 7-10 vocab words, and 20 minutes of reading. Now, he has done well with the spelling words and vocab words so far. Reading is where he has the trouble. He can read, however, it is hard for him to read and comprehend everything that he is reading. He only comprehends part of it. This is hard because the test is on the whole story, not part of it. So any suggestions on how to help him with this will be greatly appreciated.
I am already having trouble with his teacher not communicating with me. According to Trenton he had to sign the conduct book the other day. From listening to his side, it was something stupid that she was being petty about. However, I have yet to receive a note, email or phone call from her to let me know that something happened. There have been some other small things as well. I think I am going to have to call a conference with her, which is sad because school is just getting started good.
Hollie learns 3 letters (one each week) and 3 numbers (one each week) each month. They review all letters and numbers (1-10) each day, however the main focus is on one letter and one number. Then the last week they review everything. For August, they learned 1-3 and I,E, and U. She learned that these were vowels. Her writing is getting better. Oh Yea, she is learning how to read 3 letter words. She already knows her name and can recognize other things, but they are learning to read now. I love Hollie's teacher. She is great.
Work is going great, I still love my new job.
Um, I think that is all for now.
Come back this week for pictures of the kids first bowling and first ball practice.
